CMA CGM Group has finalized the purchase of 50,000 bamboo "eco-containers" with 25,000 light steel containers, in line with the company’s environmental policy. Using bamboo limits the use of rare tropical wood species and improves the container’s technical qualities, CMA CGM said in a written statement. The light steel containers are manufactured from high tensile steel, which saves 550 kilograms (about 1,213 pounds) of the high-cube container’s tare weight, without comprising structural qualities.
