The CMA CGM Columba became the largest container ship ever to call in Vietnam when it tied up alongside at the newly opened Cai Mep International Terminal (CMIT).
At 131,263 tonnes, the Columba is on her maiden voyage and is the first of the new 11,500 TEU vessels in CMA CGM's FAL3 service between Asia and Europe.
Located approximately 50km southeast of Ho Chi Minh City, CMIT is the first container terminal in Vietnam to offer shipping lines direct access to the newly dredged and certified 14m Cai Mep Terminal Channel as well as offering 22-row outreach super-post Panamax quay cranes to work the world's new generation of vessels.
