Mediterranean Shipping Co. will raise general rates on cargo shipped from northern European and Mediterranean ports to Canada and Mexico, effective July 1. The increases follow a series of GRIs the Geneva-based container ship operator has posted this year, including most recently a May 1 increase on exports from the U.S., Canada and Mexico to Europe. The July 1 GRI will be $200 per 20-foot container and $300 per 40-foot container for cargo shipped from North Europe, the Baltics, Ireland and the Mediterranean to Canada. The increase will be $150 per 20-foot container and $200 per 40-foot container for cargo shipped from Mediterranean ports to Mexico. The Journal of Commerce Online |
