DHL to launch speedier cargo service from Japan to US

Deutsche Post DHL will launch a cargo service later this month that will connect Japan more quickly to the west and east coast of the United States, reported Kyodo News.

Under the new service by the world's leading postal company, all cargo in Japan will be collected at the CentralJapanInternationalAirport near Nagoya, known as Centrair, and delivered directly to Cincinnati, Ohio, which it positions as the base for North America.

Currently, cargo is sent through Hong Kong but the new route would shorten the delivery by one day and standardise the time frame to overnight delivery.

The firm said it would also create new direct routes between Chubu and Taiwan's Taipei and South Korea's Incheon to speed up services between Asia and the United States.

Chubu will also be connected to Australia four days a week, up from the current twice a week.
