Maersk Implements Piracy Surcharge

 

 

Maersk Line announced a piracy risk surcharge on containers shipped between India and the Middle East region.

 

Effective June 1, the surcharge is $70 per 40-foot equivalent unit.

 

The intra-Gulf region primarily includes ports in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Bahrain.
