CMA CGM Launch New Direct Call Service to Mediterranean from Cai Mep Terminal

In a continuous effort to meet customers' demands and connect Vietnam to the world with the fastest and most reliable service, CMA CGM has announced the launch of its new direct weekly service MEX 1 from Vietnam to Mediterranean. The MEX 1 will call SP-PSA deep sea terminal located in Cai Mep port (Thi Vai river), 80 km south of Ho Chi Minh City.

The inaugural call will be CMA CGM VERDI ME718W, 5 700 TEU vessel on February 25th 2011. This Service deploys 11 vessels with a capacity from 5,700 TEU to 6 500 and serves the full range of port in Mediterranean, as well as Malta to connect our service to other Mediterranean, Black Sea & Adriatic destinations.

MEX 1 will improve usual transit time from Ho Chi Minh to Mediterranean by 5 days. Cargo from Haiphong, Danang, Quinhon will be transshipped in Cai Mep with dedicated and reliable connection with MEX 1.

CMA CGM will ensure its service by implementing a dedicated daily barging service from Ho Chi Min city’s ICD (Phuoc Long and Binh Duong) to SP-PSA terminal in Cai Mep. This will allow CMA CGM to issue and deliver the BL once containers are shipped on board the barge. The connection in Cai Mep is guaranteed.

Containers may also be trucked directly to the terminal in Cai Mep and the closing time at the gate of SP-PSA is 11h00 am every Thursday.
