CMA CGM pursues rate increases

 

The liner carrier CMA CGM said it will seek rate increases and peak season surcharges on a number of trades over January 2012.

From Jan. 1, the line is pursuing increases of:

  • $600 per TEU from Asia to the east coast of South America.
  • $560 per 20-foot container and $800 per 40-foot container from Asia to the Caribbean.
  • $200 per TEU from Asia to South Africa.
  • $100 per TEU from Asia to the Indian Ocean islands.

From Jan. 5, CMA CGM will seek an increase of $500 per TEU from Asia to Mexico, and the west coast of Central and South America.

From Jan. 15, the line will impose a peak season surcharge of $150 per TEU (dry or refrigerated) from New Zealand to the Far East, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and all parts of Africa.

From Feb. 1, CMA CGM will seek a $150 per 20-foot container and $250 per 40-foot container increase from the Persian Gulf ports to Europe.

The line also said it will assess a congestion surcharge of $100 per TEU at Dar es Salaam on its SWAX service between India, the Middle East and East Africa. The congestion surcharge at Mombasa will increase from $110 per TEU to $210 per TEU on the same service.

According to ComPair Data, the SWAX service has a rotation of Nhava Sheva, Jebel Ali, Khor Fakkan, Mombasa, Zanzibar, Dar es Salaam, and Nhava Sheva.
