Cathay Pacific Airways said it plans to resume operations to HanedaAirport in Tokyo with a twice-daily service in addition to serving the region’s larger NaritaInternationalAirport.
The new services are scheduled to commence in October. The airline first operated to Haneda in 1959, when it launched its Tokyo service. By 1978, it was operating four passenger flights a day and four freighter services a week before all international airlines switched their scheduled operations from Haneda to Narita that year.
Cathay operates six flights a day to Narita -- five direct and one via Taipei -- and 91 passenger flights and 11 freighter services per week between Hong Kong and five major gateways in Japan (Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Sapporo).
Cathay said it will also add two daily flights to Taipei -- the first on June 11 and the second on July 1, bringing its number of weekly services from Hong Kong to Taipei to 94. From September, the airline will also increase the number of weekly flights to Jakarta from 14 to 18. |
