SIA cuts frequency on LA route

 (15/4/2011 10:35:28 AM)

Singapore Airlines will cut two of its seven weekly non-stop flights to Los Angeles next month due to lower demand, reported Dow Jones Newswires.

"We are temporarily reducing flights from seven to five and won't fly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays starting May 3," Nicholas Ionides, Singapore Airlines spokesman, said. "The reduction is initially for three months and whether it will be extended will be decided after a review at a later date."
The carrier uses the four-engine Airbus A340-500 aircraft on the route.

Asked if rising jet fuel prices were a factor in reducing the frequency, he said the cuts were solely in response to the "supply and demand situation".
