Hapag-Lloyd splits NWX, Loop B services

German container line Hapag-Lloyd said in a customer notice it is decoupling a long-line service between Europe, the Far East and Pacific Northwest.

The line said this month it is changing its NWX/Loop B service into a pure transpacific service between Northeast Asia and the Pacific Northwest, called NWX. That would leave a standalone Asia/Europe leg, to be dubbed Loop B. The services are part of the service offerings of the Grand Alliance, of which Hapag-Lloyd is a member.

The long-line service operates with 17 Hapag-Lloyd vessels with an average capacity of 8,699 TEUs.

The NWX will have a rotation of Busan, Ningbo, Shanghai, Qingdao, Busan, Vancouver, Seattle, Vancouver, Tokyo, Nagoya, Kobe and Busan.

The carrier didn’t release details about the Loop B rotation. The Asia/Europe leg of the existing NWX/Loop B service is Busan, Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Da Chan Bay, Singapore, Hamburg, Antwerp, Southampton, Jeddah, Jebel Ali, Singapore, Da Chan Bay, Ningbo, Shanghai, Qingdao and Busan.

Grand Alliance partners NYK Line and OOCL are on the service, while New World Alliance members APL, MOL and Hyundai Merchant, and Zim all takes slots.
