Audi shows off with seven special A1's (08/05/2010)
Audi has unveiled its very own magnificent seven! Stealing the limelight at the 29th annual Wörthersee Tour will be seven custom made Audi A1 “motto vehicles”.
Appearing from the 12th to the 15th of May, the cars, including an “FC Bayern” model celebrating the German team’s entry into this year’s Champions League final, and a “competition kit” edition in the original Quattro rally colours, are all the work of Audi’s design chief Stefan Sielaff. They are meant to show the variety of different looks customers can achieve with add-on parts, special paint finishes and adhesive films, and all the cars feature special interiors to match the eye-catching paintwork.
“The Audi A1 fits in with the GTI meet because customization has always been a central topic for the Audi fans here at the Wörthersee and will also play a special role for A1 customers,” said Sielaff.
Other models in the display will include official vehicles like a citrus yellow airport based model dubbed “Follow Me”, and a “Hot Rod” version riding on lowered air suspension with black steel wheels, white-wall tyres and red flame decals both inside and out.
Not all the cars are one-off specials however, as various “competition kits” will be available directly from the factory or from Audi Genuine Accessories when the A1 is launched, including an “aerodynamic” body kit featuring a front spoiler, side sills and a rear diffuser, or the “legends interior plus” bundle, which will exactly replicate the look of the “competition kit” car shown here, with Audi keen to emphasize its historical motorsports success.
Also appearing for Audi will be an orange version the new R8 GT on display to the general public for the first time, and the power-crazed RS5 saloon.
