UPS boosted its cargo capacity 50 percent on flights to Central and South America last week, saying it is responding to solid growth in Latin American demand. The carrier replaced a Boeing 757 narrow-body aircraft with a larger B-767 widebody freighter on 19 weekly flights to markets in Central and South America. The B-767 can carry a payload of 132,200 pounds, UPS said. The freighter will be used on flights to Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Panama. Latin American economies expanded an average 6 percent in 2010, led by export industries such as flowers, farmed fish, fruits, vegetables and automotive parts.
